Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman from America. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran was one of the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, the most significant being a $350,000 deal that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence was her mother, who was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran's entire life. Sometimes, the family relied on the delivery of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father as one who often drank too much and was rude to her mother and contempt, particularly after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled at school and later learned that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic primary school. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her first year.
